A Review of Feminism from a Male Perspective
Hi, I am Mr. Feminism. I am here to tell you today about feminism. Yes, I am a male and men can be feminist. Remember, women’s rights are a people issue and not a women's issue. Feminism has been a trend in the United States during the last century. Women have started doing jobs which were previously meant only for men. Feminism tends to be viewed by men in a negative way. The general perception is that feminists are viragos. But you cannot paint all with the same brush. A basket of apples may have some
rotten ones, but the majority will be good ones suitable for consumption. Same is the case with feminism. Some women work for causes which are just and which help other people. If a social worker or a volunteer and such like minded people get together to help women who have been battered and abused, then I feel it is a good and just cause. They are giving these battered women some hope in life. They are improving their living conditions and improving their quality of life. But there have been few cases where women have been harassing their spouses and feminists have been supporting these women. Neither god nor the law gives an individual a right to abuse, harass or torture another individual. It is heartening to see women entering fields which were previously reserved only for men. Army has started allowing women to go for combat fighting. Male dominated activities like flying planes, driving trucks and cabs, working in a garage etc are no more male dominated. Women are seen in almost all fields and they are equal to men if not better.
